In June 2025, we began a seismic retrofit project at the Kingston Ferry Terminal.  Construction will last through July 2026. Ferry service will operate as normal, except for a delay of 20-30 minutes on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays for the 9:40 p.m. Kingston to Edmonds departure. This delay may also affect later sailings.

The traffic signal and boarding pass system at the Kingston terminal is active daily from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. through Indigenous Peoples’ Day on Oct. 12.   A boarding pass is required before arriving at the terminal ticket booth Follow the signal: Ferry-bound traffic will follow the traffic signal on SR 104 into a designated lane.   Take a pass: Stop at the automated dispenser and take your pass. If you leave the line after taking a pass, you will need to re-enter the line and take a new pass.   Wait for Green: Once the system detects space at the terminal, your light will turn green. Proceed directly to the tollbooths.   Standard operating days and times  A boarding pass is required from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. during these peak periods:   Summer Season: Daily from Mother’s Day through Indigenous Peoples’ Day.   Year-Round: Every Saturday and Sunday.   Holidays: Daily during the weeks of Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s.   The purpose of this system is to help improve traffic flow through Kingston and deter ferry line cutting. We are monitoring how the system is working and will make adjustments as needed to improve operations.  

We'll conduct soil testing at the Clinton terminal starting Monday, June 8 through approximately Friday, July 3. During the work, you can expect to see crews using a large drill to collect samples on land. For in-water borings, crews will use a floating barge.  Terminal operations will continue throughout the testing.  We'll temporarily close one lane along southbound SR 525 to South Ferry Dock Road between June 8-12 and June 15-16. The sidewalk along SR 525 will remain open.  Work may generate some noise and dust, especially in the parking lot.   The Humphrey Road ferry parking lot will remain open with some sections of the lot closed for 5-7 days.  This work helps us understand soil and ground conditions as we plan to construct new overhead loading and electrification structures at the terminal. Extremely low tides will affect oversized vehicles with low clearance. Anything larger than 40 feet with less than 14 inches of clearance, may be delayed for travel during the listed times. Our summer sailing schedule started Sunday, June 14, and runs through Sept. 19.   Anacortes/San Juan Islands: We’ve made schedule adjustments to improve on-time performance.    Fauntleroy/Vashon/Southworth: The #3 vessel will operate a full-day schedule on Saturdays and Sundays this summer. Last year, it operated half days on weekends due to limited crewing.   Port Townsend/Coupeville: Starting Tuesday, June 16, the route will operate a two-boat schedule daily through Oct. 12.    All other routes will operate on their regular summer schedules, available online now.

Public Wi-Fi is now available aboard the Chimacum, which normally serves our Seattle/Bremerton route. New signs on board explain how to connect. The service works best inside the passenger cabin, where the signal is strongest. If you have problems or feedback, please use the Wi-Fi portal seen from your phone or computer and select “Provide Wi-Fi Feedback.” This launch is part of a pilot project that will also add public Wi-Fi at our Bremerton terminal this summer.

Elevators 1 and 2 at Colman Dock remain out of service due to a mechanical issue. The Alaskan Way #4 Elevator and the Pier 50 elevator (along the front of the building) are both in service and available for customer use. We are working with vendors to get the other elevators repaired and will provide updates as conditions change.

Will all major events in downtown Seattle, we encourage Bainbridge and Bremerton ferry riders travelling without a vehicle to buy their return ticket in advance. This can help avoid long lines at the ticket booths at Colman Dock. Now, youth tickets are valid for six hours instead of two. This gives passengers ages 18 and younger more flexibility and allows them to skip the rush at the ticket booths after a major event if they buy their return ticket in advance or use a Youth ORCA card.

The #1 elevator on the Samish is unavailable. The M/V Samish has two ADA compliant elevators and wide staircases that provide access from both car decks to the passenger and sun decks. There are accessible restrooms on the car deck, main passenger deck and the sun deck. Notify ticket seller if you are traveling by car and need to park near an elevator or car deck restroom. Updates will occur when more information is available.

Due to terminal repairs at Southworth, we’re making the following schedule changes on late Wednesday, June 17 (and early morning Thursday, June 18).  11:50 p.m. Fauntleroy sailing will go to Vashon and will not continue to Southworth. 12:15 a.m. Vashon to Southworth sailing - will go to Fauntleroy, not Southworth. 12:35 a.m. Southworth sailing - cancelled. 1:05 a.m. Fauntleroy sailing will go to Vashon and will not continue to Southworth.   1:30 a.m. Vashon to Southworth sailing - cancelled.  The last sailings to Southworth on Wednesday, June 17 will be: 10:35 p.m. Fauntleroy to Vashon and Southworth sailing 11 p.m. Vashon to Southworth These schedule changes are necessary as we repair the vehicle transfer span at Southworth.

The #4 Inter-island Tillikum is running an estimated 30-40 minutes behind schedule. Customers can check the online schedule for more information on scheduled upcoming sailings and also view the real-time travel map for live boat location information.

On Wednesday, June 17, the 8:45 a.m., 9:30 a.m. & 10:15 a.m. sailings from Port Townsend and the  9:30 a.m., 10:15 a.m. & 11:00 a.m. sailings from Coupeville are cancelled due to tidal conditions.
